I just read on CNN.com that post Biden, Obama is still in a statistical dead heat with McCain. Polls annoy me like anyone else, but JAYSUS. If this is really true after the last eight years there is no choice but to assume half the country is incurably retarded. I mean medically mildly retarded. I cannot figure out why this in not a landslide except that he’s a damn dirty negro. A damn dirty negro that beat out a poor innocent mom with his damn dirty tricks like counting.

i, too, am baffled that the polls aren’t more wide open. but a couple things to remember:
most electoral college projections (what really counts) favor obama. RCP’s< ./a>, 538’s, and 270towin all show Obama going in with a lead. As far as swing states go, he’s either ahead in them, or has a senate race with a Dem polling well that could help him.
Also, remember, polls are typically taken of registered voters, and of people with landlines. Two things there: One, there’s gonna be an enormous, possibly unprecedented spike in the number of new voters, overwhelming brought to the fold by either the Democratic Party or the Obama campaign. Many of them will be college students. Both demographics hugely favor Obama. Secondly, I shouldn’t have to tell you that most people with cell-only phone numbers live in bigger cities. With the exception of Houston, almost every big city in the nation is Democratic.
Plus, August always sucks. Obama was on vacation, and was torn up not only for being “exotic,” but also, this was when the “celebrity” meme was introduced, and seems to have stuck somewhat (your point about American’s being mentally challenged applies here). He came back from vacation stronger than ever, was delivered the strongest gaffe of the general election, and rode a huge buzz in naming his VP. He goes into the convention with, quite frankly, insane media coverage.
Check the polls a week after the GOP convention. If it’s still close, then we have to worry.
Until then, I’m not worried.
