In lieu of jet packs …
AP reports that scientists from the U.S. and U.K. have successfully developed a rudimentary method for making things invisible.
As I read the article, I saw a future random everyday person such as myself, in his or her glass-domed futurepod, wondering about the origins of such a device. He or she turns on his or her googletron and wishes for archival material on the whatever-it’s-called.
This could be the beginning of something huge. And scary.

Oh my god how much do I love this idea! It’s huge and it’s going to be completely awesome to have my own invisibility cloak! Do you know how many watercooler conversations I can eavesdrop? If a coworker is annoying me I can just throw my invisibility cloak at her! I could sneak into clubs and bars and parties without paying the cover! And I can make a small invisibility cloak for the homemade popcorn and chips I plan to sneak into a movie theater! Or why bother, I can sneak my way right into the theater and not bother to pay the $10 for the movie and the $15 for the popcorn/soda! The possibilities are totally endless.
